Elite Elevation Volleyball Club

How many girls do you keep on a team?

Our goal is for every team to have 10 players max.  Circumstances may change this but that is the goal.

Are there any fundraising opportunities, and are they mandatory?

None of our fundraising activities are mandatory. Any fundraiser you want to organize will be endorsed, within reason. RMR scholarships can be applied for, after making a team. If special payment plans need to be made, after tryouts, these can also be arranged.

What is Elite Elevation's position on multi-sport athletes?

We HIGHLY endorse other school sports. We do ask for communication between both sports coaches -- as to potential conflicts with practices/matches. We understand last minute changes and will work with each athlete and their team to move practices to accommodate multi-sport athletes. National Qualifiers MUST be attended.

Is it true you only practice twice a week?

Yes, on Sunday we will hold two practices for our teams with players traveling over one hour one way. We will have optional position clinics on Thursdays – 3 times a month. Our teams with the majority of their players within an hour from our practice facility will potentially have practice on Thursdays.

How do you stay competitive with other clubs that practice more often?

We believe with committed athletes, parents and coaches, we can and do compete. Other programs with a similar philosophy have shown this works!

Do you actively recruit to your club?

Yes! We identify athletes we think can compete at the next level. We also recruit players from our camps and clinics. We also see players in high school, middle school, the day of tryouts and so on! If you are interested in playing for Elite Elevation - come to tryouts!

Do you assist players with the recruiting process?

We believe recruiting is a 2 year process beginning at 16's and a significant portion of our job as club coaches/directors. We work at getting each athlete the best fit athletically and academically. We assist in making the video, we personally call/email any school you are interested in, plus we follow-up at tournaments. It is marketing, and there's no one better at it than Elite Elevation. Club volleyball is a means to the end of a successful collegiate volleyball career and scholarship.

How do you handle team travel?

Each team member is allowed to get to the tournament any way she can (frequent flyer miles, non-rev, different itinerary to do college visits, etc.); but the club does purchase group flight tickets for players and any remaining seats the parents may purchase. Each team will have a van to transport to/from the hotel and playing site, and for sightseeing.

Do your players receive individual feedback from coaches?

Yes! mid-season every coach and player have a one on one session to go over where the player stands, field questions, and tell them what they need work on. Also an end of season written evaluation by each coach for each player, and club director comments, is mailed to each athlete - along with an end of season survey for parents/players to fill out and return to the club.

What is the Mission of Elite Elevation Volleyball Club?

Elite Elevation Volleyball Club is dedicated to providing training in the skills and techniques of volleyball, promoting interest in the sport of volleyball, and fostering the ideas of teamwork and sportsmanship in Grand Junction and all of the Western Slope.  The goal of Elite Elevation is to provide an environment where players will become better people, students, and athletes.  It is our responsibility to make sure that we help each and every player regardless of age or ability to achieve maximum performance.  Elite Elevation will give all of our athletes the opportunity to compete and be exposed to the highest competition both regionally and nationally.  This exposure should ensure the athlete of receiving the best possible opportunities to pursue the right college fit regardless of their intent to play college volleyball or not.

What is club volleyball?

USA Junior Olympic (sometimes called J.O.) volleyball or club volleyball is a nationwide, junior volleyball system comprised of individual clubs organized by region under the parent organization, USA Volleyball, for the primary purpose of growing and supporting the sport. Generally, club volleyball offers participants the opportunity to continue to compete and develop skills well beyond the relatively short middle school and high school seasons.

Club volleyball programs, literally and figuratively, come in many different shapes and sizes in terms of programming, administration, benefits provided, etc. Some organizations serve a small niche (e.g., low commitment developmental, high commitment competitive, and everything in-between). Some organizations, like Elite Elevation, commit to providing a wide-range of opportunities for willing participants.

Elite Elevation Volleyball Club is a member of the Rocky Mountain Region of USA Volleyball and the United States Volleyball Association (USAV).

When does club volleyball take place?

Again, there is some variation between clubs. Elite Elevation teams begin formal practices immediately after our club tryouts in late November/early December.

Most Elite Elevation teams begin formal competitions in early January (sometimes late December). Elite Elevation Volleyball Club Teams compete through the USA Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships late June, early July, if qualified.

What is the role of parents in Elite Elevation Volleyball Club?

As coaches, administrators, and parents, we are committed to the creation of a positive athletic experience for all members of our Club. Elite Elevation Volleyball Club recognizes the vital role that parents play in their daughter’s growth as a student-athlete. Elite Elevation cannot be successful without the support of our student-athletes’ families. We solicit and value our parents input on a variety of issues relating to the operation of our club and its programs. Parents actively support our mission and contribute to our success in roles as ambassadors, in advisory positions and as volunteers.

Who coaches at Elite Elevation Volleyball Club?

Elite Elevation Volleyball Club recruits, hires, trains, and retains the most experienced and committed coaches available. We offer training and mentorship for all coaches. And, above all, Elite Elevation coaches make a commitment to serve the mission of our organization.

How many teams will Elite Elevation Volleyball Club field this year?

The number of teams that Elite Elevation fields each season is mission-driven. What does this mean? It means that we do not field teams that we cannot fully support.

Where do teams practice?

All Elite Elevation teams will practice in the Grand Junction Area.  Fruita Monument High School, Palisade High School and Mesa State College have been reserved to cover all of our needs.

How often do teams practice?

Teams will practice minimally two (2) times a week.  Depending on the make up of a team, those practices could occur on one day.  To meet the Mission of Elite Elevation, it may be necessary for us to have two-a-day practices on Sunday.

How often are tournaments?

This depends on the team. Regional tournaments are scheduled every other weekend from January until mid-April. Travel tournaments outside the Rocky Mountain Region, are an essential component of our teams’ competitive experience. Scheduling for these tournaments can vary year to year and is done by independent organizations-we have no control over the travel schedule and must simply select the best tournaments by team based on schedule, anticipated costs and competitiveness. As such some end up as substitutes for regional tournaments and others are on the typical “off” weekend and are therefore, in addition to the regional tournament schedule. As a general guideline, Elite Elevation teams compete in one regional and one out-of-state tournament each month.

For an “out-of-state” tournament, how far do you travel?

Most of our  teams will travel in the Midwest to the West. For example, we could have tournaments from Omaha, NE to Anaheim, CA. The USA Junior Olympic Championships for 2009 will be held in Dallas, TX.

How do you determine the age-eligibility of a student-athlete for the purposes of team placement?

This is determined by our governing body, USAV, and simply stated it is the age your child will be on September 1, 2009. For more details please visit the Rocky Mountain Region website.

I/We have two daughters that would like to be on the same team. Can you accommodate this request?

Possibly, it depends on a variety of factors. If this is your situation we suggest you bring this to our attention early in the tryout process. Additionally, we do offer help for families with multiple athletes in the Club. Please contact us for details on this.

Does Elite Elevation Volleyball Club only field teams that compete at a high level?

While all of our teams compete at a high level, within the Rocky Mountain Region there are divisions created based on the number of teams. Each division will have 8 or 12 teams in it. In the early phase of the regional club season a team’s performance will establish their placement in one of these divisions. This ensures that each team has the appropriate level of competition relative to their skill and ability. Elite Elevation Volleyball Club also recognizes that in the younger age divisions (10-13) we will compete locally, with the goal being to take them to one National level competition.

My daughter will be trying out for other clubs after the Elite Elevation tryouts, if she's offered a spot with Elite Elevation will she have to accept it or risk losing her spot before she hears from the other clubs she is trying out for?

Unfortunately, this pressure tactic is often used by volleyball programs (both collegiate and club) as a response, among other things, to the serious reality that teams need players in order to fully form. At Elite Elevation, we place no higher priority than the well-being of the student-athlete and strictly adhere to the recruiting guidelines set forth by the Rocky Mountain Region that prohibit all clubs from requiring player commitments prior to the official region signing day (For the 2009 season it is December 1, 2008). We promise to conduct our tryouts with the utmost integrity. When you receive an offer from Elite Elevation, that offer stands and is available until the student-athlete and her family have taken sufficient time and opportunity to weigh all factors. Note that we will NOT offer more positions than exist on our teams.  Please refer to Tryout Page for more information.

Are we able to watch the tryout process?

You are certainly able to watch tryouts but we ask that you make every effort to not distract the student-athletes or our coaching staff. Please note that at all times only participants are allowed on the playing surface.

Will you field as many teams as you have players (i.e. will you make up teams from all players available at tryouts)

We are a mission-driven organization and it is imperative that our efforts are directed at fulfilling all aspects of our mission. With this in mind, we will field as many complete teams as possible PROVIDING we have sufficient space in our facility AND we are able to recruit experienced staff of the caliber we have set as our standard.

Will we have a choice or say in what team our daughter plays on (i.e.,  playing up vs. playing at age-level)?

Yes, you are asked to indicate your preference when you register for tryouts. We also work with families throughout the tryout process to determine the best fit.

What if we have schedule conflicts during the club volleyball season (i.e., vacations, year round school, etc.)?

We strongly believe in the concept of TEAM…that the team is strongest only when all members are present. That being said, our philosophy is to put health, family, and academics above club volleyball in terms of priorities. Please let us know if you have scheduling conflicts, we make every effort to find ways to make Elite Elevation possible for those who want the experience we offer.

Although our daughter is able to travel on weekends our family situation will not allow for me to accompany her, can my daughter still play on a club team at Elite Elevation?

Yes! Our travel tournament program provides chaperoning and coach monitoring. In addition, travel assessments cover all meals, lodging and transportation (where required). Please note that Triangle is willing to assist in these types of situations.

What does it cost to play?

All teams have a specific tuition/dues rate. Uniform packages are included and will depend on the age and team level. Travel costs are assessed separately and depend on the individual travel schedule for each team. Please note that your travel assessment includes all costs associated with the student-athletes participation in the travel tournament (lodging, food, and transportation costs*)

*transportation costs only apply when teams travel by bus or plane.

Why are dues stated as TBD? When will that information be available?

Dues are stated as TBD largely because many tournaments have not yet established their entry fees for the 2009 season. Please be assured that, consistent with our mission and our non-profit status, we work diligently to make Elite Elevation as affordable as possible and will always do our best to work out a financial formula that is reasonable for families committed to our Club.

How much are uniforms?

The cost of uniforms varies depending on the program and team placement for each student-athlete. Uniform items include jerseys, spandex, practice uniforms, knee pads, socks, back pack, travel bag. Requirements are based on the level of team. We also offer Elite Elevation logo merchandise for players and their families. The purchase of these items is strictly optional.

How do I pay for club?

Our payment plan offers families the opportunity to spread costs out over the length of the season. Payment plan information is available on our Programs page. Club membership fees may be paid using cash or check.  Checks that come back with insufficient funds will be charged an additional $25 plus your athlete will be unable to practice or play until sufficient funds are received.
